Kuwait to witness plenty of road projects 2016

KUWAIT, Feb 7 (KUNA) -- Kuwait will witness this year a large number of roads' development ventures namely inauguration of a main highway, part of renovating Al-Jahraa road, an official of the Ministry of Public Labor announced on Sunday.
Ahmad Al-Hsan, the assistant undersecretary for roads' engineering, made the announcement while inaugurating a turning point on Al-Nuwaiseeb road, as part of up to eight new points, noting that they are designed to minimize accidents.
The official said draft plans had been worked out to renovate the fourth ring road, indicating that consultancy houses would be sounded out, pending endorsement and execution.
The Ministry's road sector has already earmarked a budget estimated at KD 500 million, forecasting its endorsement by the Ministry of Finance in a few months.
Project to upgrade the first ring road is proceeding as scheduled, Al-Hsan said, revealing that the relevant contract had been signed and work had begun five months ago. Moreover, he indicated at signing another contract to develop Al-Bede' roundabout.
Work orders will be issued later this month for this project, in addition to main roads linking Al-Wafra road, Sabah Al-Ahmad district and Al-Khairan. (USD=KD 0.3). (end) am.nfa.rk
