KUWAIT, Feb 6 (KUNA) -- Coronary and heart disease are main cause of fatalities in Kuwait, with proportion reaching 41 percent of overall deaths, announced a senior official on Saturday.
The announcement was made by Dr. Jamal Al-Harbi, the Ministry of Health assistant undersecretary for back-up medical services, on behalf of Health Minister Dr. Ali Al-Obaidi, at launch of the marathon, "friends of the heart," involving 1,500 contestants, with 500 children aged under 10.
Dr. Al-Harbi said the marathon, launched by the Chest Diseases Hospital, is a step in the right direction with respect of implementing the MoH's plan for boosting awareness of such diseases. (end) nsq.rk
