Bundestag Chairman due in Kuwait Sunday on ties' boosting mission

BERLIN, Feb 6 (KUNA) -- Bundestag Chairman Norbert Lammert is due to visit Kuwait on Sunday on a mission forecast to substantially boost bilateral relations between Kuwait and Germany, said the State of Kuwait Ambassador here Munther Badr Al-Issa on Saturday.
In a statement to KUNA, Ambassador Al-Issa said the chief legislator would pay the visit in response to an invitation by National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Ali Al-Ghanim, adding that it would boost mutual cooperation between the two countries at various levels, particularly in the parliamentary field.
The visit is an opportunity to follow up on previous consultations intended to push forward the bilateral parliamentary relations, looked into during Parliament Speaker Al-Ghanim's visit to Germany in April 2014.
The Ambassador's declaration coincided with a statement by the Bundestag, affirming the scheduled visit and noting that Lammert would hold talks with the Kuwaiti lawmakers and senior Government officials.
Moreover, he will meet representatives of the Kuwaiti civil society, elite cultural personalities for addressing issues pertaining to means of upgrading level of the grass-root ties between Germany and Kuwait.
Lammert's visit to Kuwait is part of a regional tour, including visits to German troops based in Turkey and Jordan as well as Syrian refugee camps. (end) anj.rk
