1939 -- Kuwait's first student mission traveled to Egypt for receiving education there.
1960 -- Kuwait's construction planning council was established.
1972 -- Under the aegis of His Highness the then Crown Prince and Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, the scientific museum of the Ministry of Education was inaugurated.
1974 -- A group of Palestinian gunmen seized the Japanese Embassy in Kuwait, taking hostage the ambassador, another four diplomats and 11 staffers. They end the three-day operation by flying to Yemen.
1991 -- Iraqi invasion forces execute two Kuwaiti women and throw them in front of their houses for valiant resistance against Iraqi occupation.
2004 -- The State of Kuwait and the U.S. sign a trade and investment framework agreement and set up a bilateral trade and investment council, which is a springboard for a free trade agreement between both countries.
2004 -- Kuwaiti karateka Ahmad Monir wins gold in the 3rd Asian Karate Championship in China's Taipei.
2011 -- Three ministerial decrees were issued to form committees for power, customs, and health-services companies connected with Kuwait's development plan.
2011 -- Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) and Grenada signed USD 2.5 million loan agreement to development infrastructure in Grenada.
2012 -- Amiri decree issued assigning His Highness Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah as Prime Minister.
2014 -- Parliamentary committee agreed on draft resolution to allocate citizenship to some 4,000 illegal residents. (end) gta
