Iraqi army liberates Sijariya district in Ramadi

BAGHDAD, Feb 5 (KUNA) -- The Iraqi army has completely liberated Al-Sijariya district in Ramadi city, central Iraq, the Joint Forces Command announced Friday.
The anti-terrorism unit was able to liberate Sijariya and hoist the Iraqi flag over a number of buildings in the area, joint command said in a statement, adding that Iraqi forces killed a large number of so-called IS militants during the liberation battle and removed dozens of mines left by the terrorist group.
So far, Iraqi forces has reclaimed most of Ramadi's districts, except for Jobiya and Eastern Husaibah that are still under IS' control, added the statement. (end) ahh.ma
