BRUSSELS, Feb 5 (KUNA) -- EU Foreign Ministers discussed the relations with Iran during their informal meeting in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, Friday evening.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Dutch foreign minister Bert Koenders said the meeting also dealt with the issue of Syria, the role of Iran in the region, the upcoming Iranian elections, the economic opening, the verification of the Iranian nuclear deal.
Koenders, whose remarks were picked up in Brussels and whose country holds the current EU Presidency, said the meeting ended with a discussion on how the EU can strengthen its foreign policy.
EU foreign ministers will discuss about migration when they resume meetings tomorrow, he noted.
Earlier Friday the EU foreign ministers held an informal joint meeting with the EU ministers of defence which focused mostly on issues related to security.
"We in Europe are encircled by an arch of instability so we need to work much better between these two (group of) ministers," he added. (end) nk.bs
