NGOs call for solidarity with Muslim communities in Europe

BRUSSELS, Feb 5 (KUNA) -- A network of European anti-racist, anti-fascist, and human and migrant rights organisations are launching an event in several European countries on Saturday in response to marches organised by anti-Muslim groups.
The European Network Against Racism (ENAR) announced Friday that they are launching a "Thunderclap" that will go live at 12 noon on Saturday.
"It will show that European voices of HOPE sound louder than the shouts of fear and scaremongering coming from far right and populist, anti-migrant and anti-Muslim groups," it noted.
Marches have been planned in 13 European countries (Austria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Netherlands, Poland, Slovakia, Switzerland, United Kingdom), under the banner of the anti-Muslim group Pegida, tomorrow.
"6 February is not just about standing in solidarity with the Muslim communities of Europe. It is about the street, village, town or city, country and Europe we want to live in. We want to celebrate the values that bring us together in Europe," said ENAR.
Brussels-based ENAR has over 100 member organizations in Europe. (end) nk.mt
