ISLAMABAD, Feb 5 (KUNA) -- At least six Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers and 36 rebels have been killed during ongoing clearance operations in seven provinces of Afghanistan in past 24 hours, said the Ministry of Defense (MoD) on Friday.
Twenty six rebels were also wounded and seven others detained during security operations. The operations were conducted in the Khogyani district of Nangarhar province, Shegal, Nari districts of Kunar province, Ab Band district of Ghazni province, Kurkh district of Herat province, Dandi-iGhori locality of Baghlan, Tushkan district of Badakshan and Helmand provinces, said a statement by the MoD.
Security forces recovered weapons, ammunition and a large number of hand grenades during the operation, the statement added.
The statement by Taliban rebels came at a time when Taliban rebels have paced up their attacks across Afghanistan taking over the control of several districts after the withdrawal of NATO/ISAF forces from the country last year. (end) sbk.mt
