Twenty two airstrikes target IS in Iraq, Syria - coalition

WASHINGTON, Feb 4 (KUNA) -- Coalition military forces continued to attack the so-called Islamic State (IS), conducting two airstrikes in Syria and 20 in Iraq, the Combined Joint Task Force announced Thursday.
In Syria, near Ayn Isa, one strike hit an IS tactical unit and destroyed an IS vehicle, while in near Mar'a, one strike hit an IS tactical unit and destroyed an IS vehicle, the statement said.
In Iraq, near Habbaniyah, two strikes struck a large IS tactical unit and destroyed three IS vehicles, four IS vehicle borne improvised explosive devices (VBIED), and denied IS access to terrain.
Near Kisik, one strike destroyed an IS tactical unit and an IS vehicle.
Near Mosul, five strikes hit three separate IS tactical units and 16 IS fighting positions, two IS vehicles, an assembly area, engineering equipment, and an IS checkpoint.
Near Qayyarah, six strikes destroyed four separate IS tactical units and six assembly areas, two command and control nodes, six vehicles, seven fighting positions, a mortar tube, an anti-air artillery piece, a weapons cache, and a heavy machine gun.
Near Ramadi, four strikes struck a large IS tactical unit and destroyed engineering equipment, a vehicle, a tactical vehicle, eight heavy machine guns, two rocket propelled grenade systems, a mortar system, a recoilless rifle, a staging area, and 11 fighting positions.
Near Sinjar, one strike destroyed an IS front-end loader.
Finally, near Sultan Abdallah, one strike suppressed an IS fighting position. (end) ak.hb
