Iraqi Kurdistan's region vice pres. lauds Kuwait's political, humanitarian stances

IRBIL, Jan 28 (KUNA) -- Vice President of the Iraqi Kurdistan Region Kosrat Rasul Ali extolled on Thursday Kuwait's political and humanitarian stances under the leadership of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah in all fields.
This came during his meeting with Kuwait's Consul General in Irbil Dr. Omar Al-Kandari during which they reviewed bilateral ties and means of promoting them in all fields, and a number of issues of mutual interest.
Ali said he is following up closely Kuwait's efforts in relieving refugees and internally displaced persons in the region, calling for increasing support and helping region countries secure their needs.
He expressed satisfaction that Kuwait opened a consulate in the region, affirming that it has an effective role in cementing and boosting cooperation between the two sides.
He also commended the depth of "historic" relations between Kuwait and Iraqi Kurdistan region.
On his part, Al-Kandari told KUNA following the meeting that the talks focused on bilateral ties and means of enhancing them in all domains.
Efforts exerted by the region to combat the so-called Islamic State (IS) which poses a grave threat to the whole region were discussed, he said, voicing satisfaction over the level of cooperation between the two sides. (end) sbr.am.hm
