BEIRUT, Jan 22 (KUNA) -- Visiting chairman of the Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) Dr. Hilal Al-Sayer on Friday reiterated support to Lebanon regarding the Syrian refugees in the country.
In a statement to KUNA following talks with Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Samir Mokbel, Al-Sayer said that the KRCS would carry on with their efforts offering aid and relief supplies to the Syrian refugees.
He added that the meeting with Mokbel offered an opportunity to review the KRCS projects in Lebanon, as well as the role of all other Kuwaiti institutions to present assistance to refugees there and in other states.
Kuwait is the biggest supporter to more than a million of the Syrian refugees in Lebanon.
Meanwhile, UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon (UNSCOL) Philippe Lazzarini has commended Kuwait's support to the refugees.
In a statement to KUNA after a meeting with Al-Sayer, Lazzarini appreciated Kuwait's response to humanitarian appeals. He pointed out that Kuwait had hosted three international pledging conferences for Syria over the past three years.
The meeting addressed the tragedy of the Syrian refugees, at home and abroad, and their future humanitarian needs, he added. (end) mah.ayb.msa
