KUWAIT, Jan 19 (KUNA) -- Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Sabah Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah discussed with Director General of the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Tuwaijri ways to enhance cooperation in cultural and media fields.
In the meeting Tuesday, Sheikh Salman said that vigorous efforts are being exerted to remedy the image of Islam, one that has been marred in recent times.
Preparations are underway for the "Kuwait Capital of Islamic Culture 2016" festival, to be sponsored by His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Sheikh Salman noted. The festival has taken precedence amongst the country's top leadership, he said.
"The growing turmoil plaguing the region behooves us to concert our efforts," Sheikh Salman said.
Moreover, Al-Tuwaijri said that he is gratified to see such priority attached to the festival, adding that ISESCO is willing to contribute in any way to ensure the success of the festival.
It is imperative that we convey the true image of Islam to the youth through cultural messages that would help undermine elements that seek to deface Islam's pleasant image, Al-Tuwaijri said. (end) nfa.nam
