KUWAIT, Jan 19 (KUNA) -- Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) announced on Tuesday it had collected so far USD 500,000 in donations to alleviate the plight of residents of the city of Madaya in Syria who are currently undergoing severe humanitarian conditions.
Director of Public Relations and media in KRCS Khalid Al-Zaid said in a statement to KUNA that the donations drive, begun last Sunday, will go on until Thursday.
KUNA met with some of the donors who were cognizant of the suffering of the people of that Syrian city and willing to do their generous best to help them out.
Abdullah Al-Enizi, Fatma Al-Ali, and Salem Al-Doeseri were three donors today who told KUNA that by donating cash to the donation campaign, they were registering their commiseration and compassion with the 40,000 people of Madaya who are starving for food and shelter.
They all thanked KRCS for taking the lead in helping those people by organizing this much-needed fund-raising campaign. (end) akh.ajs
