Int'l economic forum boosts Davos' economy

DAVOS, Jan 18 (KUNA) -- Davos-Klosters in Switzerland becomes the center of international attention during the Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum, having a positive impact on the town's economy.
The forum is a great source of income for the town, Davos Mayor Tarzisius Caviezel told KUNA on Monday.
The presence of top political and economic decision makers pose a challenge for the town to take security measures to provide the officials with a safe stay in the resort, he added.
Meanwhile, the mayor noted that the forum provides Davos-Klosters with about USD 50 million within five days, mainly in hotels sector and restaurants. Moreover, other Swiss cities also benefit from the event with about USD 29 million, he said.
The 46th annual forum will be held from January 20 to 23 in the mountainous town of Davos-Klosters, situated at 1500 meters above sea level. The event is attended by over 2,000 leaders from business, government, international organizations, civil society, academia, media and arts to discuss different challenges facing economy.(end) ta.ag
