Iraqi army evacuates 92 civilians from Ramadi

BAGHDAD, Jan 1 (KUNA) -- Iraqi armed forces evacuated 92 civilians and recovered 12 bodies of civilians from inside the city of Ramadi to safe places outside, the Joint Operations Command said Friday.
Anti-terrorism squads evacuated the citizens from downtown Ramadi to the Habbaniya to the east where they received medical care, the command said in a statement.
The bodies belonged to civilians who were killed by so-called Islamic State (IS).
The command meanwhile said US-led international coalition's aircraft launched 12 airstrikes over Al-Anbar Governorate and killed scores of militants, as well as destroying 12 supply lines and hideouts used to make bombs.
Iraqi forces have been clearing Ramadi, Anbar's capital city, from IS militants following the recapture of the government complex days ago. (end) ahh.bs
