Lebanese army, Al-Nusra Front conduct prisoner swap

BEIRUT, Dec 1 (KUNA) -- The Lebanese army and Syria's Al-Nusra Front have successfully carried out a prisoner swap outside Lebanon's border town of Arsal, Lebanon's National News Agency said.
Under the Qatar-brokered deal, Al-Nusra Front has released 16 Lebanese security officers in exchange for 13 prisoners held by Lebanon, it added The development came after Lebanese authorities had received the body of Mohammed Hamieh, one of two soldiers killed by Al-Nusra Front's fighters.
The 16 Lebanese security officers were kidnapped by Al-Nusra Front during deadly clashes in August 2014 in Lebanon's northeastern town of Arsal.
The prisoner exchange has capped months of negotiations between both sides. (end) ayb.mt
