Preparations for Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Heritage Village opening underway -- Sharar

KUWAIT, Dec 1 (KUNA) -- Preparations for the opening of Sabah Al-Ahmad Heritage Village are progressing at a rapid pace to visitors in December 18, said the village's General Supervisor and Amiri Diwan Advisor Mohammad Dhaifallah Sharar on Tuesday.
Doubling the efforts has been directed by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah who will patronize the event, Sharar said.
His Highness the Amir's directives aim to provide all means of comfort to citizens and village visitors which is located on kilometer 59 on Salmi road.
The village is a meeting place for the Gulf Cooperation Council's (GCC) visitors and to give them the chance to review history and civilization of the country through crafts and activities that are displayed in the village's museum, he said.
The village is also an entertainment destination for families who enter free of charge.
The village also aims at giving visitors a perception to link past and present where the new generation can recognize what parents and grandparents' practice had been in the past as well as customs, traditions and the harsh nature.
The festival has social and national message to spread love and brotherhood among GCC people, which prompted the supervising committee to work continuously to develop a social and cultural atmosphere for families, he said.
The village will be open to visitors seven days a week where Friday will be for families only. The number of visitors this year is expected to exceed one million due to the great development witnessed this year. (end) fsa.ss
