Arab League chief calls for supporting struggle of Palestinian people

CAIRO, Nov 29 (KUNA) -- Arab League Secretary General Nabil Al-Araby on Sunday called for backing the struggle of the Palestinian people, providing international protection for them and ending the Israeli occupation in accordance with a deadline.
In a ceremony co-organized by the league and the Palestinian embassy on the occasion of International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, Al-Araby said the Israeli occupation poses a major threat to peace and fuels violence and extremism in the region.
"The mankind is witnessing unprecedented oppression and injustice exercised by Israel against Palestinians who has been suffering since the issuance of the UN unfair resolution on division," he noted.
Al-Araby underlined the necessity of pressing Israel which tries to impose de facto on Palestinians to put an end to occupation.
There is a Palestinian diplomatic campaign supported by Arabs in order to fully recognize the State of Palestine and end the Israeli occupation in line with a deadline, he said, accusing Israel of exercising "state terrorism," which is the most dangerous one, against Palestinians.
On his part, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, in a speech delivered by his assistant for neighboring countries' affairs, stressed that Cairo is keen on supporting the Palestinian cause and continuing to exert efforts backing the struggle of Palestinians to help them obtain their legal rights.
Ambassador Osama Al-Majdoub called on Israel to stop unjustified violence against Palestinians.
He emphasized that security can be achieved by ending the Israeli occupation, respecting human rights and setting up a Palestinian state.
He urged the Palestinian people to end division through holding a comprehensive national dialogue so as to tackle all differences. (end) mfm.rg.hm
