KUWAIT, Nov 29 (KUNA) -- Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education Dr. Bader Al-Essa said Sunday his recent comments on the pros and cons of private schools were misquoted by some social media websites.
"What I've said means neither that there are some excellent public schools nor that there are some bad private schools," he said in a statement issued by the Ministry of Education this evening.
"I said that recourse to the private sector resulted from the fact that this sector relies on the English language in education; this is what the Ministry is trying to implement in its plan for curricula modernization," he made clear.
"This plan, which needs four years to complete, envisages teaching subjects such as science and mathematics in English," the minister added.
He affirmed that the private schools are a basic part of the educational system and the main partner of the ministry in the process of educational modernization, adding that these schools are subject to full supervision of the Ministry. (end) mrf.gb
