His Highness PM reaffirms support to France in fight against terror

PARIS, Nov 29 (KUNA) -- Representative of Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Sunday reaffirmed support to France in the fight against terrorism.
"The State of Kuwait supports efforts of France and the international community in fighting terrorism which has become a threat to stability and security of many world countries," His Highness Sheikh Jaber said in a statement shortly after arrival in Paris to participate in UN Conference on Climate change.
His Highness the Prime Minister called for collaboration of world countries to confront terrorism, which was rejected by all faiths.
He expressed condolences for France and the French people following the November 13 attacks in Paris that killed 130 people and injured over 350 others.
His Highness the Prime Minister praised France's "courageous" decision to host the climate summit despite the "terrorist crimes in the French capital." He said Kuwait was keen on participating in the climate summit, which was very significant due to the rapid climate changes over the past two decades.
Kuwait, said His Highness the Prime Minister, has been an active partner in previous summit which were aimed at addressing global warming, and was amogst the leading countries that approved the UN framework agreement on climate change.
He hoped the Paris climate summit would mark a "serious start" that would prevent "disastrous" consequences on environment and economy.
His Highness the Prime Minister called for narrowing gaps between industrial and developing countries, as well as increasing the funding to tackle climate changes.
Kuwait has exerted huge efforts to eliminate pollution and preserve environment, he said.
His Highness the Prime Minister is accompanied by First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Deputy Foreign Minister Khaled Sulaiman Al-Jarallah, besides senior officials at the Foreign Ministry, Diwan of His Highness the Prime Minister and Environments Public Authority.
They were received by Kuwait's Ambassador to France Sami Al-Sulaiman. (end) amm.bs
