Iraqi forces retake 40 pct of ISIL-seized territories - PM

BAGHDAD, Nov 28 (KUNA) -- Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar Al-Abadi announced Saturday that the Iraqi forces have restored control over 40 percent of the territories previously seized by the so-called Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).
This proves the success of the military operations against ISIL, Al-Abadi said in a conference on youth migration.
He added that all areas around Baghdad have been cleared from ISIL pockets and the long-imposed night curfew in the capital has been lifted.
Iraq, however, is still facing -- like all world countries -- threats from the terrorist groups, he admitted.
On the political reforms and anti-graft measures, the Premier underlined his keenness to forge ahead with reforms measures and to address the redundancy in the public sector. (end) ahh.ibi
