KUWAIT, Nov 28 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's 40th Book Fair had a perfect ending on Saturday evening when Dr. Hassan Talab, of Egypt, signaled the conclusion of the fair with his poems, considered as the grand finale but in words.
Talab, a member in Egypt's union of writers and the poetry committee, read his famous philosophical poem "Shay'" (Thing).
Then he read the Echo of the Sound poem from his "Sacrifice to God of War" collection.
The conclusion was organized by the National Council for Culture, Art and letters (NCCAL).
Talab thanked the NCCAL for inviting him to participate in the Book Fair and to make his poems conclude the fair, which opened on November 19.
Mohammad Al-Asousi, NCCAL Assistant Secretary General for Culture, said there were many publishers that took part in the fair this year thus attracting many visitors.
Speaking to KUNA, Al-Asousi the cultural activities held on the sidelines of the Book Fair were diversified and thus honored all tastes.
These cultural events dealt with the book, poetry and TV drama, he explained.
Al-Asousi said the next Book Fair would coincide with celebrations that mark Kuwait as the 2016 Islamic Cultural Capital.
He thanked His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah for sponsoring the Book Fair, as well as Information Minister and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Al-Sabah for his relentless support of the NCCAL. (end) akw.bs
