By Osama Al-Wadi'e

RIYADH, Nov 25 (KUNA) -- The Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) hosted on Wednesday a feminist meeting on the achievements of the Council.
During the meeting, head of the GCC mission in Brussels Amal Mejren Al-Hamad and a number of female officials of the GCC Secretariat were honored for their contributions to the march of the Council toward a more effective joint action.
In statements to KUNA following the function, Al-Hamad expressed joy for the honoring and deemed it an appreciation of Kuwait and the females in the GCC states in general.
She affirmed the GCC undertaking to promote women political empowerment in order to encourage females to assert themselves in all domains.
On the GCC mission in Brussels, she said it has been working to strengthen the GCC-EU relations on the bilateral and multilateral levels since it was opened in 1993.
"The EU opened its mission in Riyadh in 1994 and another mission in Abu-Dhabi in 2013," Al-Hamad said.
"As world's biggest political and economic blocs, the GCC and the EU have a lot of common interests," she said, noting that the GCC is the EU's fifth largest trade partner with the trade volume amounting to USD 184 billion in 2014. (end) od.gb
