Belgium: Schools, metro services in Brussels reopen Wed.

BRUSSELS, Nov 24 (KUNA) -- Schools will reopen in Brussels and the metro will also start running as of Wednesday, Belgian Interior Minister Jan Jambon said on Tuesday.
About 300 police forces will be deployed to protect schools and another 200 will guard the metro stations to ensure maximum safety in Brussels from Wednesday, the minister told news network VRT in an interview.
Schools and metros in Brussels have been closed since Saturday after Belgian authorities raised the terror threat alert to its highest level 4 which means that there is an "imminent threat" of a terrorist attack.
Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel told a news conference after a meeting of the National Security Council last night that the 4 threat level in Brussels will be maintained until next Monday.
Schools, metro services and many shopping centers continue to be closed today in the capital and many police personnel and soldiers are patrolling the streets.
Belgium's federal prosecutor on Monday charged one person arrested in a raid in Belgium for participating in the activities of a terrorist group in connection with the recent Paris attacks.
However, 17 out of 21 people who were detained in police operations since Sunday night and were questioned by police, have been released. The rest were being held for further questioning. (end) nk.msa
