OPCW report raises suspicion over Syrian regime use of chemicals - France

PARIS, Nov 10 (KUNA) -- France late on Monday said that a report recently circulated by Organisation for Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) raises suspicions over the Syrian regime's use of toxic chemical weapons against its people.
"The OPCW circulated to States Parties three reports by the Organisation's Fact Finding Mission (FFM) into three separate sets of incidents, in which the use of toxic chemicals in Syria had been reported," said a statement by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
"The first report does not present any elements that would allow determination of responsibilities, while the second; investigating allegations of use of toxic chemicals in March 2015 in the Idlib Governorate, showed a 'systematic' operation of helicopters, which raises suspicions over the regime's responsibility," said the statement. The OPCW report circulated last Friday.
The statement also called for a "joint investigation mechanism between OPCW and the UN in order to determine those responsible for the chemical attacks, put an end to them, as well as hold accountable whoever perpetrated them." (end) amm.hb
