Libya denounces Italian naval breaches of territorial waters

TRIPOLI, Nov 1 (KUNA) - The interim government of Libya on Saturday night condemned the entry of three Italian vessels into the Libyan territorial waters without prior coordination.
The Libyan navy spotted three vessels, with the Italian flag, proceeding into the Libyan territorial waters until they reached the coastal city of Daryanah, located 32 km (20 mi) to the east of Benghazi, the government said in a statement here.
The move runs counter to the international laws and the bilateral agreements between the two countries, according to the statement.
The Libyan government pledged to use all possible means to protect the sovereignty and territorial safety of the country.
The Libyan army had warned all foreign ships against entering the Libyan territorial waters, particularly in the western parts of the country, without getting permission beforehand. (end) nam.gb
