DOHA, Oct 13 (KUNA) -- GCC transport undersecretaries held their 20th meeting here on Tuesday with an agenda stipulating closer cooperation among member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council.
Addressing the opening session, Qatari transport adviser, Hassan Al-Hail, called for new legislations in the GCC countries to cope with the tremendous development in the sector. He also indicated that actual integration of the GCC countries is becoming a reality with the near completion of the joint railway network. He indicated that the conferees would examine certain measures related to this mega project.
The meeting is in preparation for the upcoming 19th ministerial meeting.
Agenda of today's meeting also includes other issues such as building a joint authority for the GCC ports, as well as briefing the undersecretaries about experience of other nations in the railway sector's development.
The Kuwaiti delegation taking part in the meeting includes Undersecretary Hamid Habib Al-Gattan. (end) nnd.rk
