Iran welcomes initiatives for inclusive Yemeni dialogue

TEHRAN, Oct 12 (KUNA) -- Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said Monday his country backs any initiatives for inclusive dialogue among the Yemeni parties.
The Iranian government is talking with UN Secretary-General's Special Envoy for Yemen Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmad who recently proposed an all-Yemeni dialogue and "welcomes his proposal in this respect," Amir-Abdollahian said.
He made the comments during his meeting with UN Undersecretary General Jan Eliasson this evening.
On his part, Eliasson stressed the need for pursuing diplomatic efforts to resolve the crises of the Middle East and appreciated Iran's approaches to addressing the crises of Yemen and Syria, and interacting effectively with the UN envoys.
The UN official called for more diplomatic efforts by all stakeholders to find political settlement to the conflicts in both Arab countries as soon as possible. (end) mw.fz.gb
