Russian warplanes attack Idlib, Latakia

AMMAN, Oct 10 (KUNA) -- The Russian warplanes continued on Friday the attacks against the positions of the Syrian opposition groups in Idlib and Latakia governorates, northwest Syria.
The fresh airstrikes targeted the premises of the 13th unit in Tal As village, south Idlib, and Al-Jib Al-Ahmar hills, north Latakia, as well as Kafr Naboda village in Hama governorate, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported.
The attacks resulted in a yet-to-be-specified number of casualties among the ranks of the opposition fighters.
Meanwhile, fighting intensified between the opposition groups and the regular troops on Morek front on the northwestern rural outskirts of Hama. A trooper of the National Defense Forces was killed and at least one tank was destroyed in the battles going on since yesterday.
Several casualties were reported among the ranks of the regular troops and pro-regime militias in similar fighting in Maan town, east Hama, where four tanks and vehicles were destroyed.
In a related development the state-run SANA news agency said the regular troops regained control over Al-Bahsa village, north Hama, and shot down a remotely-piloted aircraft belonging to the opposition fighters in Latakia.
On their part, the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces said the Russian airstrikes destroyed 60 positions of the Syrian armed groups and killed 300 gunmen in the last 24 hours. (end) tk.gb
