Riyadh summons Czech ambassador over "Satanic verses" publishing

RIYADH, Oct 9 (KUNA) -- Saudi Arabia has summoned the Czech ambassador over translating Salman Rushdie's "The Satanic Verses, which is an offensive book to Islam and Muslims".
In a statement to Saudi Press Agency (SPA) Friday, the Kingdom expressed to the ambassador its condemnation and denunciation of translating and publishing the book.
The statement reiterated the Kingdom's stance against defaming Islam, voicing the country's hope for preventing publishing the book, which is published by Paseka Publishing House. (end) yms.hm
