Iraq reports 878 cholera cases

BAGHDAD, Oct 5 (KUNA) -- Number of people infected with cholera in Iraq has risen to 878, the Iraqi Ministry of Health announced on Monday, however it noted that there were no fatalities among these cases.
The ministry said in a statement that these cases were recorded between January and October 4th. However it put the whole number, including those categorized as suspected cases, at 992.
Most of the cases were reported in Babel province -- 337, followed by Baghdad, 178, and then Al-Muthanna, 149.
In September, Iraq put the number of cholera cases at 415. In 2012, only 204 patients were reported. (end) ahh.rk
