Arab League hails Kuwait's experience in protecting competitiveness, monopoly control

CAIRO, Oct 3 (KUNA) -- Arab League praised on Saturday Kuwait's experience in the field of competitiveness protection and monopoly control, making it equal to many organizations and agencies in developed countries.
The remarks were made by the Director of Economic Integration in the economic department at the Arab League Dr. Mohammad Al-Nesour to KUNA after a meeting with Executive Director of Competitiveness Protection department in the Kuwaiti Ministry of Commerce and Industry Hussain Mohammad Safar.
Al-Nesour said that Kuwait has a complete understanding on the issue which is part of a comprehensive state policy in protecting competitiveness.
In response to a question regarding the outcome of competitiveness protection on the completing of the Greater Arab Free Trade Area, Al-Nesour said that the establishment of competitiveness protection body is a vital step needed ahead of the establishment of the unified Arab Customs Union.
He added that these issues remain among the lingering topics on Arab Free Trade agenda, stressing the importance of having a special legislative body to complete the Arab Free Trade Zone.
Al-Nesour pointed out that in the event of completing these important steps, the road to unified Arab customs union will begin.
For his part, Safar said in a similar statement to KUNA that his visit to Arab League's General Secretariat comes within efforts exerted by the Arab League to promote economic integration.
Safar pointed out that he held talks with officials in the Arab economic integration department on issues related to competitiveness and monopoly control, including discussing cooperation and technical support and developing the institutional structure for protecting agencies concerned with competitiveness in Kuwait.
The Kuwaiti official noted that the aim of his visit was also to benefit from the experience and expertise available in member Arab countries in this respect. (end) mfm.mb
