35 names added to US terror list

WASHINGTON, Sept 29 (KUNA) -- The US Department of State and the Treasury on Tuesday announced the terrorist designation of a total of 35 individuals and groups linked to Al-Qaeda and the group known as ISIL.
ISIL-CP, the Caucasus Province branch, includes fighters from Dagestan, Chechnya, Ingushetia, and Kabardino-Balkaria, and its "amir" Rustam Aselderov "is a former commander of the North Caucasus extremist group Caucasus Emirate," which is recognized as a terrorist group in the US, the statement said.
ISIL-K, the Levant Khorasan branch, "is led by former Tehrik-e Taliban (TTP) commander Hafiz Saeed Khan, and consists of former Pakistani and Afghan Taliban faction commanders who swore an oath of allegiance to Abu Bakr Al Baghdadi," the statement affirmed.
Jund Al-Khilafah (JAK-A), based in Algeria, consists of "senior Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) military commanders [who] broke away from the group and announced its allegiance to ISIL," and it is "best known for its abduction and subsequent beheading of French national Herve Gourdel in September 2014," the statement said.
Mujahidin Indonesian Timur (MIT), based in Indonesia, is linked to ISIL and has carried out attacks on security forces, the statement noted.
Jaysh Rijal al-Tariq al Naqshabandi (JRTN) "is a terrorist group that first announced insurgency operations against Coalition Forces in Iraq in December 2006 in response to the hanging of Saddam Hussein," and also helped ISIL capture Mosul, the statement showed.
The Obama Administration also added ISIL-SP, the Sinai Province branch, to its terror list as it is an alias of Ansar Bayt Al-Maqdis. That group has already been designated. The newly listed individuals are: Emilie Konig, a French citizen fighting in Syria with ISIL; Peter Cherif, also a French citizen said to be a member of Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP); Boubaker Hakim, a dual Tunisian-French citizen and ISIL member in North Africa; Maxime Hauchard, another French citizen fighting with ISIL in Syria; Nasser Muthana, a British citizen fighting with ISIL in Syria; Sally Jones, also a British citizen who went to Syria to "fight alongside her husband, deceased ISIL hacker Junaid Hussain"; Tarkhan Ismailovich Gaziyev, a Russian citizen and North Caucasian fighter who "now leads an ISIL-linked group known as Tarkhan Jamaat"; Shamil Izmaylov, another Russian who "established his own Russian-speaking ISIL faction in Raqqa" in Syria; and Gulmurod Khalimov, a Tajik citizen who is an ISIL recruiter.
The Treasury alone listed additional individuals Morad Laaboudi, also known as Abu Ismail, a Moroccan citizen; Aqsa Mahmood, a dual Pakistani-British citizen; Bajro Ikanovic, a Bosnian citizen; Muhammad Sholeh Ibrahim, an Indonesian citizen; Omar Hussain, also known as Abu Sa'eed Al-Britani, a British citizen; Mounir Ben Dhaou Ben Brahim Ben Helal, a Tunisian citizen; Tuah Febriwansyah, an Indonesian citizen; Ali Musa Al-Shawakh, a Syrian citizen; Husayn Al-Salihin Salih Al-Sha'iri, a Libyan citizen; Mu'tassim Yahya 'Ali Al-Rumaysh, a Yemeni citizen; Muwaffaq Mustafa Muhammad Al-Karmush, an Iraqi citizen; Sami Jasim Muhammad Al-Jaburi, also an Iraqi citizen; Tarad Mohammad Aljarba, a Saudi citizen; and Nasir Muhammad 'Awad al-Ghidani Al-Harbi, also a Saudi citizen.
"As a result of these designations, all property subject to US jurisdiction in which these individuals or groups have any interest is blocked and US persons are generally prohibited from engaging in any transactions with them or to their benefit," Tuesday's statement affirmed. (end) ys.mt
