CAIRO, Sept 17 (KUNA) -- Secretary-General of the Arab League Nabil Al-Araby touted here on Thursday efforts exerted by the State of Kuwait during its presidency of the Arab Summit and Afro-Arab Summit in 2014 and 2013 respectively.
Addressing a ceremony to honor outgoing Kuwaiti and Egyptian permanent delegates at the Arab League, Al-Araby said the State of Kuwait, represented by its delegate Azeez Al-Daihani, did a great job concerning the following-up of resolutions made during the Arab Summit held in Kuwait in 2014.
He also hailed its role in monitoring the implementation of resolutions adopted by the Afro-Arab Summit hosted by Kuwait in November 2013.
"Kuwait, during its presidency of the (Arab) Summit, was up to responsibility and played a great role in supporting Syrian refugees," he added.
Kuwait, UAE and Saudi Arabia were in the forefront of the countries which pledged bountiful financial donations in order to alleviate the humanitarian sufferings of Syrians inside and outside their country, Al-Araby pointed out.
On his part, Al-Daihani boasted that his country did its job properly during its presidency of the Arab Summit and Afro-Arab Summit, especially regarding coordination over the implementation of resolutions made during the two gatherings.
But, he emphasized that concerted efforts should be exerted in order to address the current problems and issues in the Arab region. (end) mfm.rg.mt
