Iraqi parliament passes new bill on terrorism financing, money-laundering

BAGHDAD, Sept 16 (KUNA) -- Iraqi lawmakers on Wednesday passed a new bill for combating terrorism financing and money laundering, after it was approved by the cabinet in June.
The Parliament today voted for the bill on terrorism financing and money laundering, a statement read.
The new bill covers all crimes related to illegal money transfers, as well as using it for financing terrorist acts.
It provides for establishing a council in Iraqi banks, to include representatives from the Ministries of Interior, Finance and Justice, as well as the Foreign Ministry and the anti-terror apparatus.
The council will be entrusted with drawing up policies and programs for combating terrorism financing and money-laundering, as well as follow up their enforcement. (end) ahh.msa
