IRBIL, Sept 5 (KUNA) -- The Kuwaiti Red Crescent Society (KRCS) as a first stage distributed on Saturday 38,000 food baskets to about 200,000 displaced Iraqi families in Kurdistan region of Iraq.
The KRCS aid comes as a part of a program to alleviate the suffering of the displaced people and improve their living conditions, head of the KRCS delegation Yousef Al-Miraj told KUNA.
The food aid was distributed in 22 camps in the provinces of Irbil, Dohuk and Sulaymaniyah, he added.
For his part, Kuwait's General Consul in Irbil Omar Al-Kandari said Kuwait's aid came due to Kuwait role in helping the victims, where the State of Kuwait has allocated USD 200 million part of a campaign to the relief the displaced.
The Kurdish Ministry of Planning announced the province needed for USD 1.4 billion to cover the needs of the displaced in the region. (end) sbr.ss
