Israeli forces launch heavy raid on West Bank refugee camp

RAMALLAH, West Bank, Sept 1 (KUNA) -- The Israeli army apprehended several Palestinians and inflicted injury upon several others with an Israeli soldier also injured during a widescale raid on Jenin refugee camp, according to multiple reports on Monday.
Dozens of Israeli Defence Forces military vehicles raided the refugee camp late on Monday, besieging the home of Majdi Abul-Haija, who was recently freed after being held captive by Israel, eyewitnesses told KUNA.
Majdi and his brother were later arrested following the two-hour-long siege.
During the raid, armed clashes also occurred wounding a Palestinian with live bullets and five others with tear gas, the reports mentioned.
According to these eyewitnesses, Israeli authorities prevented ambulances from reaching those injured.
Meanwhile, Israeli media reported that an Israeli soldier received injuries described as critical during the clashes which occurred at the refugee camp.
The army's raid had been launched on a target described as valuable by local private broadcaster Channel 10.
Other Israeli news channels claim that the raid had failed in its objectives. (end) nq.sd
