Attack on airport kills 2 people in SW Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, Aug 30 (KUNA) -- At least two engineers were killed in an attack by the militants at Jiwani airport in Pakistanآ’s southwestern Balochistan province on Sunday, said officials.
A senior administrative official, Gwadar Deputy Commissioner Abdul Hameed Abro confirming the attack said that around 12-armed men on six motorcycles attacked the Jiwani airport, near the Pak-Iran coastal border in Balochistan's Gwadar district killing a Civil Aviation Authority engineer.
"An assistant engineer was killed and a sub-assistant engineer injured during the attack," he added.
The assailants also kidnapped electronics engineer from the airport whose bullet-ridden body was later found from a nearby area. The militants also destroyed the airport radar system in the attack, said the Deputy Commissioner.
The assailants managed to sped away on their motorcycles after the attack. The security forces cordoned off the area and a search operation went underway.
Balochistan Chief Minister, Abdul Malik Baloch strongly condemned the attack and expresses grief over the loss of innocent lives. Earlier last year, a group of armed men disguised in security forcesآ’ uniform attacked the international radar in the coastal town of Pasni, Gwadar killing one Balochistan Constabulary official and injuring another.
