AMMAN, Aug 28 (KUNA) -- Public Authority for Youth and Sports is giving undying support to the sport of tennis in Kuwait, Deputy Chairman of Kuwait Tennis Federation stressed on Friday.
Abdulsamad Al-Aryan told KUNA, on the fringes of Jordan's second juniors' international tennis tournament, that government support given to tennis players should be an educational and academic one; practical support, where players engage in local and international events, should also be provided in order to raise the level of their performance and allow them to gain some experience by interacting with other advanced players in the game.
He pointed out that the Kuwaiti team did poorly in Jordan's tourney, however; in Lebanon the team performance was "satisfactory." Jordan's international tennis tournament for players under the age of 18 is concluding its activities today.
It has seen the participation of 150 players from 22 countries. (end) mjb.nfm
