Turkey rescues 330 illegal immigrants

ISTANBUL, Aug 28 (KUNA) -- The Turkish coast guards have rescued 330 illegal immigrants off the coast of three provinces on the Aegean Sea west of the country, Turkish Chief of Staff announced in statement last night.
Turkish coast guards rescued 120 people from drowning who were on inflatable boats in Bodrum, 95 in Izmir, and 120 others in Canakkale areas while they were on their way towards a Greek islands, the statement added.
Meanwhile, the security forces arrested 347 people trying to cross the Turkish borders.
The forces stopped 264 people trying to cross the Turkish borders coming from Syria, 38 heading to Syria, 16 people trying to cross the Turkish borders from the Iranian side and 29 others on their way to Bulgaria and Greece. (end) ta.ss
