KUWAIT, Aug 24 (KUNA) -- The National Council for Culture, Arts, and Letters devised a new strategy to help preserve Kuwaiti heritage, it announced in a statement on Monday.
NCCAL Acting Secretary Mohammad Al-Asousi told KUNA that the new strategy, set in motion after the last meeting for the council, will focus on the youth and would encourage them to be proud of their heritage.
Cultural centers, with experienced staff members, opened in the country and selected locations abroad in accordance with a previously agreed upon strategy in 2003, said the official, adding that the new plan was to increase support to these centers.
It also came in line with UNESCO's policies to preserve world heritage, said Al-Asousi.
He affirmed that the "way to go" was to encourage youth to be proud of their cultures and heritage, noting that the investment in the current generation of youngsters was the key to the future.
In recognition of Kuwait's efforts to help the youth, UNESCO lauded the GCC country for its involvement in the UN organization's Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage (end) ha.gta
