Commander of Saudi Brigade martyred in cross-border attack from Yemen

JEDDAH, Saudi Arabia, Aug 24 (KUNA) -- The Saudi Armed Forces announced Sunday that the commander of the 18th Brigade Maj.-Gen. Abdul-Rahman bin Saad Al-Shahrani was fatally wounded by hostile fire from Yemen.
He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries tonight, according to a military statement.
The incident took place when Maj-Gen. Al-Shahrani was inspecting the units of the brigade deployed along the frontline in the southern region.
The statement paid tribute to martyr Maj.Gen. Al-Shahrani who "sacrificed his life in defense of honor, homeland and religion." Saudi Arabia has been leading an international coalition to support the legitimate authority in Yemen under President Abd-Rabbuh Mansur Hadi since March 26; the military operation initially dubbed as Operation Decisive Storm, was renamed as Restoration of Hope on April 21.
