AMMAN, Aug 21 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's national team on Thursday won two bronze medals in the foil contests of the first day of the Arab fencing championship, juniors and youth, held in Amman, Jordan.
Algeria's Harawi Salem won the gold medal after he defeated Qatar's Hamad Al-Asi.
Both Kuwaiti fencers Hussein Al-Kayatt and Ahmad Taqi had lost 13-15 to Al-Asi and Salem respectively. Kuwaitis Abdulaziz Khaled and Ali Dashti came sixth and seventh in the foil contests that were concluded Thursday evening.
The Kuwaiti team to the tourney includes 24 fencers in the three categories, sabre, epee and foil, coach Abdulkarim Al-Shamlan told KUNA.
Up to 200 fencers from Jordan, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Lebanon, Palestine, Algeria and Bahrain are taking part in the tournament. (end) ab.mjb.rj.msa
