RIYADH, Aug. 11 (KUNA)-- Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Abdullatif Al-Zayani, met with United Nations (UN) Secretary General's Special Envoy for Yemen, Ismail Walad Sheikh Ahmad on Tuesday, to discuss the latest developments in Yemen.
The GCC Security Council, in a press statement, said that the meeting stressed the importance of enforcing the UN Security Council (UNSC) Resolution 2216, which imposed an arms embargo on Houthi rebels and forces loyal to former President, Ali Abdullah Saleh.
Moreover, Al-Zayani and Ahmad also discussed the war-torn nation's urgent need of humanitarian assistance.
Assistant Secretary-General of the GCC for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Owaisheq, Chief of GCC mission in Yemen, Ambassador Saad Al-Oraifi and Al-Zayani's consultant on political affairs, Dr. Mishary Al-Naem were also in attendance. (end) yms.nam
