KUWAIT, Aug 5 (KUNA) -- Kuwait Dive Team of the Environmental Voluntary Foundation succeeded in removal of a boat, of a length of 22 feet and weight of three tons, from Al-Bidaa beach.
The team's marine operations' officer Waleed Al-Shatti told KUNA on Wednesday the boat was a danger to the beach-goers and the nearby waterways, and the team was able to lift it using the emergency services management devices in the Municipality of Kuwait.
This operation is part of a national campaign to clean up the coast, where the team was able to lift 2,000 tons of various harmful waste, he said, adding that the effort would continue in cooperation with various government agencies.
Al-Shatti called on boat owners not to abandon their boats for the pollution they may cause to the marine environment and dangers to shipping lanes.
He also thanked the emergency services management in the Municipality of Kuwait and Touristic Enterprises Company for their cooperation in the operation of lifting the boat. (end) mf.ss
