Two soldiers die in southeast Turkey

ANKARA, Aug 4 (KUNA) -- Two Turkish soldiers were killed in an assault on their convoy southeast of Turkish, a security source told Anadolu news agency Tuesday.
The source, preferred not to be named, indicated that the soldiers were part of a joint Turkish military operation to crackdown on PKK members in the southeastern region of the country.
Meanwhile, a gas pipeline in eastern province of Kars was targeted by an explosion, said the agency, adding that necessary precautions were taken to minimize the damage on the pipeline.
Turkish security forces as well as oil and natural gas pipelines are continuously being targeted by what Turkey deems as "terrorist" elements ever since the Suruc attack, which led to the death of 32 people, occurred back in July 20th. (end) rs.gta
