Arab League condemns Israel's prisoner force-feeding law

CAIRO, Aug 2 (KUNA) -- The Arab League on Sunday strongly condemned the Israeli Knesset's passing of a new law, allowing the force-feeding of Palestinian hunger-strikers in Israeli jails.
In a press statement, the League criticized the law a highly discriminatory law that violates prisoners' rights and could endanger their lives.
Moreover, it called on the international community and various social and governmental organizations such as the European Parliament (EP), The Human Rights Council (HRC) and The International Federation of Red Cross (IFRC) to act swiftly to halt the enforcement of the new law.
Legislators of the Israeli Knesset endorsed on Thursday the force-feeding of prisoners on hunger strike. (end) asm.nam
