US State Sec. in Egypt for strategic dialogue session

(With POL-EGYPT-US-DIALOGUE) CAIRO, Aug 1 (KUNA) -- US Secretary of State John Kerry arrived in Cairo Saturday to co-chair Egypt-US strategic dialogue session with his counterpart Sameh Shoukry, as well as discussing terrorism in northern Sinai with senior officials, official MENA news agency said.
Kerry's two-day visit to Egypt is part of a tour that will take him to Qatar and a number of Asian countries.
Kerry and Shoukry talked over the phone on Thursday regarding the preparations for tomorrow's strategic dialogue meeting.
They also discussed Syria, Yemen, Palestine, Iraq, Libya and ways of fighting terrorism.
Kerry, after Egypt, will travel to Qatar to meet with the Foreign Ministers of the six Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, the US State Department said in an earlier statement.
Kerry's visit to the Qatari capital is the first since the P5+1 group signed a comprehensive nuclear agreement with Iran. It also came after US Defense Secretary Ashton Carter's visit to the region in the wake of the July 14 agreement.
The deal, signed in the Austrian capital, Vienna, aims at limiting Iran's uranium enrichment capabilities in exchange of lifting of economic sanctions. (end) aff.bs
