US condemns attack on Palestinian village in "strongest" terms

WASHINGTON, July 31 (KUNA) - The US condemned in the "strongest possible terms" the attack that occurred Thursday night in the Palestinian village of Douma that resulted in the death of a toddler.
"The arson attack on a family's home in the dead of the night resulted in the death of an 18 month-old baby and the injury of three other family members," said State Department Deputy Spokesperson Mark Toner in a statement Friday. "We convey our profound condolences to the Dawabsheh family and extend our prayers for a full recovery to those injured." Toner continued, "We welcome Prime Minister Netanyahu's order to Israel's security forces to use all means at their disposal to apprehend the murderers for what he called an act of terrorism and bring them to justice." The statement urged both sides to remain calm and avoid escalating tensions in the wake of the incident. (end) ak.ajs
