White House Spokesman: reports of Mullah Omar death "Credible"

WASHINGTON, July 29 (KUNA) -- Reports of the death of Taliban leader Mullah Omar appears to be "credible", White House Spokesman Eric Schultz said Wednesday.
Schultz said, in a press conference, that the reports on the death of Mullah Omar in Pakistan which suggests his death took place two years ago appears correct.
In response to questions after the conference Schultz said "we are aware of the death of reports of the death of Mullah Omar. Without commenting on the specifics of these reports, we do believe the reports of his death are credible. Beyond that, I'm not going to be in a position to comment on the specifics surrounding his death." Schultz added "I can tell you that the intelligence community (IC) is looking at these reports and continues to assess the circumstances around his death.
"But beyond that, I'm not going to be in a position here to speak candidly about what we know at this point. I am sure that when the IC has an update or anything determinative, they'll be in a position to update you." Earlier, a report by the British Broadcast Corporation (BBC) quoted a source from the Afghani government confirming the death of Omar which dates back to April 2013 in a Pakistani hospital.
